Professional entry to diagnostic radiography / medical imaging in Australia may involve:
Completion of an accredited three-year undergraduate medical imaging/diagnostic radiography Bachelor degree followed by completion of the Professional Development Year programme.
Completion of an accredited four-year undergraduate medical imaging/diagnostic radiography Bachelor degree.
Completion of an accredited two-year graduate entry medical imaging/diagnostic radiography Master degree followed by completion of the Professional Development Year programme.

All programmes include a professional clinical practice component. Students may be required to undertake this component in non-metropolitan or interstate locations.

Radiation Therapy programmes are available on-campus in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Monash University offers a radiation therapy programme delivered via distance education at selected sites throughout Australia.

International Students
International students require an appropriate work visa to undertake the Professional Development Year programme.
Upon completion of an accredited university programme and the Professional Development Year, international students may apply for a Validated Statement of Accreditation. International students must provide evidence of English language proficiency with their application.
A skilled migration visa application may be submitted once a Validated Statement of Accreditation has been issued.
Where can I study Ultrasound?
Ultrasound/Sonography is a postgraduate qualification in Australia. To undertake these programmes, you must possess an appropriate qualification such as diagnostic radiography/medical imaging, radiation therapy, biomedical science or nursing. A number of the universities that conduct the professional entry programmes in diagnostic radiography offer ultrasound/sonography programmes. A Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (DMU) is offered by the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) and information regarding this programme can be found on their website.
