Professional Development Year (PDY)

The Professional Development Year (PDY) is a mediated entry to the profession allowing the development of clinical proficiency based on skills and knowledge acquired as a student practitioner.

Graduates of many accredited Australian programmes in medical imaging and radiation therapy are eligible for the AIR Provisional Statement of Accreditation (PSoA).  These graduates are known as "graduate practitioners".  Upon successful completion of the PDY, a graduate practitioner is eligible to apply for the AIR Validated Statement of Accreditation (VSoA).

Full details of the PDY, including the programme structure, expectations and assessment are described in the AIR's Education Policies.  Students and graduate practitioners undertaking the PDY and their clinical supervisors are encouraged to read these guidelines.

To the left of this page, you will find links to information for students & graduates, clinical supervisors and clinical centres.
