Pre-Approved Courses - Accredited Overseas Courses
The Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR) through the Professional Accreditation and Education Board (PAEB) have approved selected overseas courses in Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Technology and Radiation Therapy for recognition of the qualifications gained in such courses. Click here to view a list of approved courses.
Graduates from the recognised courses are able to apply via a direct application for an AIR Validated Statement of Accreditation. The applicant is required to apply on the appropriate form and include the required documentation with the application. All documents should be certified* copies. Please do not send original documents.
These applicants do not have to undertake the full assessment. They must have at least 1 year of clinical experience in their country of origin before applying. Please refer to the following link for information in relation to demonstration of English language proficiency.
Letters from both past and present employers must be included in the application to verify the clinical experience. These letters need to be original or certified* copies. The accompanying letters should state in percentages the breakdown of modalities performed, for a total of 100%. Employers evidence of recency of practice specifically clinical experience within the last 5 years is the minimum requirement. This substantiated evidence of clinical practice eperience should be from the Department Chief, Head of Department or similar and written on hospital or employers letterhead paper. A personal employment history, resume or an employers letter stating only dates of employment and/or a job description is not accepted as evidence of clinical experience.

- The work performed by the applicant, including duties, responsibilities and a percentage breakdown of the different modalities undertaken in the department for a total of 100%.
Applications involving pre-approved courses will be dealt with in a shorter timeline and an applicant should receive advice of the outcome within one month.

Accepted forms of payment are bank cheque drawn in Australian dollars, MasterCard, Visa Card or American Express. Cheques must be made payable to the Australian Institute of Radiography and drawn on an Australian Bank. Overseas currency will not be accepted. Please do not send cash.
