Information for Students & Graduates - Professional Development Year (PDY)

There are some simple steps to completing your Professional Development Year.  You will find all the forms you require by selecting the Australian state in which you are employed as a PDY radiation therapist or radiographer.  If you have any questions, you will find contact details for the PAEC in your state (please refer to the menu on the left) or alternatively you can contact the Professional Accreditation and Education Board at paeb@air.asn.au.

Step 1 -
Apply for your Provisional Statement of Accreditation
Complete the Application for Provisional Statement of Accreditation at least a month before you finish your university studies and submit the first two pages to the course co-ordinator at your university. Mail the payment section (remittance advice) directly to the AIR at PO Box 1169, Collingwood Vic 3066. Your university will forward the signed section to the AIR once your results have been finalised.

University of Sydney students please note, you are required to return to the AIR the entire application form, completed with the exception of the declaration section. Please do not submit your application to university staff.

Step 2 - Register your PDY placement
As soon as you have confirmed your employment as a PDY radiographer or radiation therapist, complete the PDY registration form that applies for your state and return it to the address indicated. 

Step 3 - Submit your interim report (24 weeks)
At the halfway point of your PDY, your supervisor must complete an interim report.  You must send a copy of this report to the PAEC in your state within two weeks.  Remember to keep a copy for your records.

Step 4 - Submit your final report (48 weeks)
At the end of your PDY, your supervisor must complete a final report.  You must send the original of this report to the PAEC in your state within two weeks.  Remember to keep a copy for your records.

Step 5 - Apply for your Validated Statement of Accreditation
Complete the Application for Validated Statement of Accreditation least a month before you finish your university studies and submit it to the PAEC in your state.  Remember to mail the payment section directly to the AIR at PO Box 1169, Collingwood Vic 3066.
